Well, we’ve come to the end of another round in Canada. We finished up in Hugh’s Room in Toronto, which is noteworthy as it is the venue where I played my first show with Kane Welch Kaplin in May ‘06. It’s been a fun year and a half. We’ve got a bit of time to kill back home before we head to San Francisco for the big show. You may notice a break in posts until then, but I promise I’ll be back to cover the festival. Until then, I bid you adieu.
Amazingly, I think this place may actually be smaller than Ashcroft. Oh well. We’re flying east tomorrow to play a show in Toronto, then we’re heading home for about a week and a half before traveling west again for the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in SF. We played a folk club in Turner Valley this evening. It went quite well, though I was so exhausted I felt like I was gonna fall asleep onstage. I’m sure it didn’t affect my performance at all . . . let’s say. I drank a cup of coffee and and emergen-C between sets (not mixed together) and that helped a lot. Tonight’s photo is of Fats onstage performing “Wolves a Howlin’”
We actually played a show here tonight. The response was great (2 encores). Hopefully next time we’ll do two nights here. I’m starting a video series of our favorite stops around the world. The first installment will be for the sandwich shop here in Penticton. I’ll put it up and let everyone know as soon as I finish it. I’m not sure where we are today. I don’t think they make maps that would get this specific. It’s our first show in B.C. (that’s just a cool way of saying British Colombia). We’re going back to Penticton to actually play a show tomorrow. I think it’s sold out (which is more than can be said for this one), so that should be good - plus we’ve been there before.
